It cannot be overstated how chaotic and corrupt the 2026 election will be. We all need to be aware of the level of maleficence that will be perpetrated by the current president to prevent the House, and, less likely, the Senate, from moving to Democratic control. Democratic control will mean that much of the current president’s illegal activities, including extensive personal corruption, will be investigated. When Democrats ultimately do take control of the House and possibly the Senate, they should refrain from impeaching the current president, regardless of the substantial evidence calling for impeachment. There will never be enough bold, subjective Senate Republicans to support impeaching the current president, regardless of the evidence. Impeachment proceedings are an exercise in futility and are not worth the effort. Investigate and document all the corruption taking place by the current president, which will keep Democrats in Congress very busy.
Most of the voter suppression efforts are currently underway. The Republican Party believes that lower voter turnout helps them win elections. Paul Weyrich, one of the founders of the Heritage Foundation, is also credited as one of the founders of the extreme conservative movement, said in 1980: “I don’t want everybody to vote.” Elections are not won by most people. They have never been from the beginning of our country, and they are not now. As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.” So, what is currently taking place to suppress the vote in 2026 fits into the base belief of the Republican Party.
Historically, the political party that holds the presidency loses seats in the House and Senate in the midterm elections. The 2026 midterm election is projected to be no different, and based on the current president’s low mid-30s polling numbers, losses in the House and the Senate could be significant. Radical gerrymandering (the manipulation of electoral constituency boundaries to favor one party or class) was decided as one of the first steps in efforts to disenfranchise voters, particularly minority voters. This effort aimed to create more Republican-leaning districts in response to the historic loss of House seats in the midterm elections. Democrats responded and gerrymandered where they could, so that this radical effort to lessen the impact of the historic loss in the House was somewhat thwarted.
The current president is working to get the Save America Act passed through Congress, which nationalizes our election process, which is now state-controlled. This bogusly named legislation, which more appropriately should be called the ” Save the President’s Ass Act,” is really another way that the current president could rig the election in his favor because he would have greater control over the process. Much of the Save America Act is voter suppression, addressing non-existent problems that could disenfranchise millions of voters. Remember, the Republican Party wants the fewest people to vote as possible. Women could be the most harmed group if this bogus legislation were to become law. Something about current IDs reflecting married name, not your birth name. There is a sizable number of Republican men who currently do not believe women should have the right to vote.
The efforts by the current president and his minions to undermine the 2026 midterm election will be varied and many. They will exceed our imagination, and many will be constitutionally illegal. The current president touts the portions of the US Constitution that fit his political agenda but disregards most provisions because he does not agree with the intent as outlined by the founding fathers. While the run-up to the 2026 midterm election will be filled with more corruption and chaos than we have seen before any election, it is in the aftermath that we could see the most diabolical, corrupt actions. Watch for the confiscation of votes when the current president feels he can easily do so to rig the outcome in states that voted out Republican members of Congress or have large Democratic-leaning urban areas. The judicial branch will be called upon to rule on many cases that will decide the political composition of Congress. Even once the courts have decided the election outcome, some shenanigans can be undertaken by Congress that could stall the seating of individual members of the House and the Senate, which may be contemplated by the Republicans who currently control Congress. How the 2026 midterm elections go and how much the current president can get away with to keep Republican control of Congress will show what we will experience for the 2028 presidential election. Tempering the chaos and corruption in the 2026 midterm election will ensure the 2028 presidential election is a free and fair election.
