Jeanette Marie Alberts, 70, of Devils Lake, ND, formerly of the Spirit Lake Nation, ND, began her journey to the Spirit World peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020, at the Heartland Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanette was on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with Reverend Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass. Jeanette was laid to rest in St. Michael's Cemetery. Jeanette Marie, only child of Amelda (Leaf) and Edward Alberts was born on July 23, 1950, in Devils Lake. Jeanette lived most of her life with her mother, Amelda, and at the St. Jude's Home in Fort Totten, ND. After the closing of St. Jude's, Jeanette moved to the Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake where she made home until the time of her death. Jeanette is survived by; her special cousin, Myra "Oksie" Alberts Lohnes, Bismarck, ND; and many other cousins of the Spirit Lake Nation; and one aunt, Virginia Alberts Foote, Parshall, ND. Jeanette joins; her parents, Amelda and Edward Alberts in Heaven along with; her beloved grandmothers, Nancy Leaf and Mattie Alberts Lohnes. Pallbearers will be: James Alberts, Burl McCaslin, Clifford Cavanaugh, Tracey Alberts, Frank Lohnes, and Bruno Cavanaugh. Honorary Bearers are all of her cousins.
