OBIT: Diane Nelson Koznick

Obituary

Diane Nelson Koznick, age 59, died peacefully in her home on Aug. 10, 2020, at the Rockin’ K Ranch in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A Celebration of Life will be held at the club at Blackrock, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. Diane was Born Aug. 16, 1960. She was raised in Lakota, ND, daughter of Gordon and Darlene Nelson. Diane attended Lakota High School, graduating in 1978. Upon graduation, Diane attended Concordia college in Moorhead, Minn., graduating with degrees in English writing and business administration. After college Diane began her retail career with the Limited Corporation. She went on to become a highly successful senior executive who spent over 20 years building and leading dynamic teams for internationally known institutions including Express, Victoria’s Secret and Levi Straus and Co. She managed her own leadership and development consulting firm as well as serving on the Global Leadership Council for the Offutt School of Business at Concordia college in Moorhead. She also served on the Board of Directors for Luther Seminary and the Board of Directors of Lifetouch. In 2011, Diane co-founded the Mica Foundation, a leading-edge non-profit organization which utilizes horses to help improve the lives of at-risk youth, families and veterans in the Coeur d’Alene community. An avid horsewoman with a love of faith, family and music, our beloved, Lady Di, rode into Glory on the morning of Aug. 10 surrounded by family and friends. Her priorities were her beloved Kozie, her family and her horses. Her greatest joy came from bringing them together at the Rockin’ K Ranch. Diane was amazingly beautiful, unequivocally generous and had a faith that moved mountains. Whether you knew Diane from her days growing up in North Dakota, or through her incredibly successful career, perhaps through one of the boards she served on, or from South Shore in Vegas, the Rockin’ K or Black Rock in Idaho, you were instantly captivated by Di. No one she met went unseen, unappreciated, or unloved. In the last few years, she showed undaunted courage in the face of a daunting enemy. She never complained, never gave up and always gave God the glory for her blessings. Even more so on her toughest of days. Diane is survived by: her husband, Jeff (better known as Kozie!); her parents, Gordon and Darlene Nelson; siblings, Scott (Faye) Nelson, Nancy (Ken) Papesh and Lee (Rachael) Nelson; stepchildren, Kristina (Jason) Landa and Charlie (Kinsey) Koznick. She was known as DiDi to; grandkids, Charly, Maxwell, Wyatt, Sammy, Kennedy and Jameson; and nieces and nephews, Ashlyn (Drew) Kamrath, Emma, Jonah, Kate Nelson, Joshua and Jake Papesh. Diane was preceded in death by; her grandparents, William and Dora Schnetter and Lionel and Hilda Nelson. If there was one word that described Di it was “LIGHT.” She was always the brightest light in the room. That light just got a whole lot brighter.
