David graduated from Minot High School in 1960, then received his Bachelor of Science in Music in 1966 from Minot State College. During college, David met and fell in love with his wife, Susan Annette Pladson, and they were married October 11th, 1963. Following college, they moved to Kenmare, ND, to begin his teaching career. Most of David’s teaching career was spent in Barnesville, MN, where he impacted countless students through class time, show choir and theater productions. In the 70’s, David spent many summers in Minot, ND, managing Kiddyland amusement park along with the pool operations in Roosevelt Park. David was a wonderful vocalist and performed in many high school, college, and family events, including singing at his sons’ weddings where singing the Lord’s Prayer was always a moving experience. His musical talents transcended to his three boys, as all three participated in Minnesota All-State Choir, bringing David immense pride. In addition, all seven of his grandchildren are gifted musically in their own right. David also was a skilled musician and was able to play several instruments. As a family man, David set an example of hard work and faith, and provided well for his wife and sons. He was known to help his sons in any way possible when needed.
