Paula Reaney Stewart

Springfield - Paula Reaney Stewart, 86, of Springfield, died at 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at her home.

Paula was born July 13, 1935, in Devils Lake, ND, the daughter of Paul S. and Helen M. Davis Reaney. She married Glenn E. Stewart on October 6, 1956, in Des Moines, IA; he preceded her in death on September 27, 2011.

Paula graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1953 and attended Drake University. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, P.E.O. Chapter CA, King's Daughters, Mary Todd Lincoln Chapter Questers, Sgt. Caleb Hopkins Chapter NSDAR, Alpha Xi Delta Alumnae, and the Women's Symphony Guild. Paula was an avid bridge player and was an equestrian in her younger days. She enjoyed knitting, traveling, music, and playing the piano, but above all else, enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lynda Trimpe; and sister, Mary Helen Reaney Swanson.

Paula is survived by her son, Paul (Carolyn) Stewart of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Susan (Jeff) Gaines of Springfield; grandchildren, Megan (Simon) Trimpe Whitaker, Sarah (Ryan) Trimpe Real, Alyssa (Josh) Trimpe Watson, Mary (Chad) Trimpe White, Aaron (Kim) Stewart, Cara (Jordan) deLugo, Dylan Stewart, and Reaney Gaines; three great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Bob Trimpe of Clinton, SC; nieces, Lauré (Larry) Johns and Lynn (Mike) Gilligan; nephew, Scott (Michelle) Swanson; and beloved cat, Dusty.

The family wishes to thank the care team at Home Instead, Memorial Hospice, and Music Therapy Connections for the loving care they gave Paula.

Graveside Ceremony: 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with The Rev. Dr. Blythe Denham Kieffer officiating.
