Michael “Mike” W. Torgerson, 64, of Leeds, N.D., passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, at his home under the care of hospice. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 2 at the Leeds Lutheran Church with Pastor Sharon Baker officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Lebanon Free Lutheran Cemetery in Brinsmade, N.D., following the reception.
Mike was born on Oct. 25, 1960, to Lester and Fern (Gerald) Torgerson in Devils Lake, N.D. He was baptized and confirmed at Lebanon Free Lutheran Church in Brinsmade, N.D. Mike was raised and educated through the sixth grade at Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada, and finished his high school education in Newark, Cali. He was very active in sports while attending school, participating in soccer and baseball.
Mike began working at Superior Tube-pipe Bending & Fabrication Company in Hayward, Cali. Before graduating high school – a career spanning over twenty years. Mike was united in marriage to Sandy Ramos on Aug. 15, 1987, in Oakland, Cali. To this union, the couple welcomed three sons, Michael, Trevor, and Dylan, and resided in Hayward. The family moved back to North Dakota in 2001. Mike began working for BTR Farmers Co-Op in Leeds as a terminal worker until 2017, when he began working for Steve Jorgenson at Jorgenson Farms until medically retiring due to health reasons.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast. He coached his sons baseball little league teams for many years, creating many fond memories as a family. Mike also enjoyed to golf and bowl, playing cards, horse races and occasional trips to the casino. His favorite past time was spent with his family and friends, but especially his children and grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandy; sons, Michael (Francesca) of Leeds, Trevor of Leeds, and Dylan (Chania) of Devils Lake; four grandchildren, Harley, Emma, Michael Trey, and Lainey; mother, Fern (Duane) Buchta; siblings, Leslie Bowman, Tom Torgerson, Shelly Torgerson, Darcy Torgerson, and Kari Jo Duffy; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester LeRoy Torgerson; maternal and paternal grandparents; brother-in-law, Kurt Bowman; sister-in-law, Wendy Torgerson.
