Irma Dulmage, 89, of Leeds passed away peacefully at her home with her husband of 62 years at her side on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Irma N. Rude was born on June 14, 1935, the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Bye) Rude, in Langdon, ND. She was raised and attended school in Langdon. Following high school she attended Mayville State University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in teaching. Her career would bring her to Leeds where she taught third grade. She met Robert Dulmage and the couple married on June 6, 1962, near Langdon. They made their home on the Dulmage Family Farm where she continued her fulfillment of living in the country, and becoming involved in Leeds traditions.

Irma made friends far and wide with her involvement with her high school and college friends that she kept a lifelong connection with. There were many years of involvement with Farm Bureau, Homemakers, WELCA, substitute teaching at area schools until she was 70 and then filling in at Leeds School, where she officially retired at 80. Irma stayed close with her brother and sisters, having family baseball games on the family farm with all the cousins that kept them close for life. She loved being a grandma, having tea parties when they were all together, teaching them how to make lefse, and even going to Norwegian Camp with one of them. They enjoyed their monthly trip to Hawaii every year, where her youngest sister lived.

Irma is survived by her husband, Bob of Leeds, son, Robert of Grand Forks, daughter, Susan (Preston) Eidenschink of Leeds, and daughter-in-law, Vicki Dulmage of Leeds. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Paige Eidenschink of Fort Worth, TX; Abby (Jeff) Fruetel of White Bear Lake, MN; Madi Dulmage of Gold Canyon, AZ; Libby Dulmage of Leeds; Shannon Phalen (Mike Bjorg) of Leeds; three great grandchildren Henry and Harrison Freutel; Kolbee Bjorg; and a brother Elroy (Marilyn) Rude of Bismarck, ND.
