Kay Denise Hanson passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at Eventide Heartland Care Center.
Kay Keyes Hanson was born on Aug. 21, 1934, in Towner, ND, the daughter of Waldo and Ethel Keyes. She graduated from Towner High School in 1952.
Kay married Herb Hanson in 1953. They made their home in Colorado, Bottineau, and south of Willow City on a small farm where they brought their four children into the world. On the farm they milked cows, raised beef cattle, and showed horses. After living on the farm, Kay resided in Barton, ND., and Rugby, ND. where she worked at Heart of America as a dietary aide until her retirement. She then moved to Devils Lake to be closer to family where she peacefully passed away at age 90.
Kay’s favorite pastimes were crocheting, building puzzles, crosswords, Bingo, and traveling.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Waldo and Ethel Keyes; two brothers, Jim and Bill (Dorothy) Keyes; two sisters, Joyce and Jean, and Herb Hanson, father of their children.
She is survived by her children; Steve (Shannon) of Fargo, Susan (Curtis) of Devils Lake, Lowell of Devils Lake, Justin (Shannon) of Williston, her brother Robert Keyes of Rugby, and grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Graveside Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at Union Cemetery, Towner, ND.
