Shirley Ann Jones, 88 of Chaska, MN, passed away on August 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN.
Visitation will be held at St. Hubert Catholic Community in Chanhassen, MN at 10:00 a.m. on Friday August 30, 2024, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
Shirley Ann Waldorf was born on January 6, 1936, in Starkweather ND, the daughter of Mathias and Clara (Lehnen) Waldorf. She graduated from Minot State Teachers College and went on to teach in one room schoolhouse.
Shirley was united in marriage to William (Bill) Jones on October 8, 1956, in Cando, ND. They moved to Butte, MT, but returned after 1 year and established a home at Maza, ND. In 1969 moved to Wolford, ND, and the following year moved to Perth, ND. She worked alongside her husband (Bill) as a bookkeeper for Perth Farmers Co-Op Elevator for 17 years and then for the Bisbee Credit Union and Noodles by Leonardo, Cando, ND, until she retired.
In 2010 moved to Chaska, MN to be closer to family. After retirement they spent 18 winters in Mercedes, TX. Shirley was active in the church and senior center. She had a great passion for reading, crocheting, card playing, baking, tending to her flowers, watching the Twins and especially spending time with family. She also enjoyed spending her summers at their cabin at Lake Upson, ND during her time at Perth.
Shirley was survived by her loving family, Chris (Donna) Jones, Grand Forks, ND; Debbie (Ron) Michels, Carver, MN; Craig Jones, Chaska, MN; Corey Jones, Chanhassen, MN; DeLane (Rick) Jones, Montgomery, MN; Sarah (Coco- furry friend) Jones, Oakdale, MN. Shirley has 7 grandchildren Nicole (Nick) Storm, Matt (Cayla) Michels, Jeff Michels, Cass (Amber) Jones, Ben (Kelsey) Jones, Kyle Jones, Katelyn (Kirk) Jones; 9 great-grandchildren, Aidan, Petyon, Piper, Mila, Tatum, Liv Storm. Ella and Harper Jones. Future baby Michels (Matt and Cayla). Several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mathias and Clara, husband William (Bill), brothers Walter, Eugene and Victor Waldorf, sisters Arlene Reslock and Gerry Ebensteiner.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Friday (8/30) at St. Hubert Catholic Community, 8201 Main Street, Chanhassen with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Interment, Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
