Curtis Maurice Soggie, beloved brother, uncle and great uncle passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center from complications of interstitial lung disease.

Curtis was born on May 30, 1959, the son of Marvin A. and Ardelle B. (Nelson) Soggie in Devils Lake, ND. He was reared and educated in Oberon, ND, graduating from Oberon High School with the class of 1977. He was manager at a local Cenex for 20 plus years before moving to Fargo, ND.

Curt was always one to ask how you were doing and sincerely mean it. With his quick wit and love of teasing, he found great pleasure in getting someone to laugh and smile. Curt’s heart was as big as his chest with kindness to match. Soft hearted to his core, Curt’s love of animals was enormous. Even the most timid and fearful animal trusted and liked Curt. Curt loved to read about the world and talk about the future. Of course, always with a little joke attached.

Curt loved to travel and see family, The most impressive thing about Curtis was his ability to remember, almost photographically, life’s events from the past. If you didn’t remember, he was your guy to call. He was always very supportive of his family or those in need.

Fueled by his love of a wonderfully cooked meal, Curt was quite the grill master. In his spare time, Curt was often found perfecting his list of favorite recipes, ranging from baked goods, breads, and meats of all ranges. He was happy to share his tips and tricks and his eyes lit up when given the opportunity to learn and share, He was the guy that cooked a few steaks for the dogs to enjoy also.

Curt’s ingenuity to fix broken things ran deep. There weren’t many things that needed to go to the pros to be repaired when you had Curt around.

Honesty was a word that both friends and family used to describe Curt. You could always count on his honest opinion and honest character. After being introduced to Curt, you were never a stranger for long.

Curt is survived by his loving family. His sisters and brother, Marlene Maddox, Portland OR, Cheryl and her husband Jack Volk, Harvey ND and Michael Soggie and his wife Sandra, Devils Lake; nieces and nephews Jeffrey Zetter, Portland OR, Todd (Jackie) Zetter, Phoenix AZ-Jodelle (Paul) Gefroh, Cleveland ND, Camie (Steven) Schwan, Sammamish WA-Jesse (Luciane) Soggie, Hamstead, NC, Jeremy (Lisa) Soggie, Fargo ND, Alycia Soggie, Devils Lake; numerous precious great nieces and great nephews.
