Terry Michael “Ike” Zander, 71 of Devils Lake, ND, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 26, 2024.
Terry was born to Alma (Kanvisher) and Herbert Zander in New Rockford, ND, on October 11, 1952. The family moved to Devils Lake during his high school years, where he attended Devils Lake High School, graduating with the class of 1971.
Shortly after graduating, Ike met his love, Julie Bertsch and they married in 1975. They had three children together, Amy, Kelly, and Chad.
Terry enjoyed traveling and especially loved the winters spent in Arizona. He loved working in the garden and sharing his success with family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman, who took pleasure in hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren.
He loved fishing in Devils Lake, Pelican Lake and especially enjoyed fishing trips to Alaska and Florida. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his children and later his grandchildren’s many activities. He also enjoyed playing basketball and board games with them.
Later in life, he enjoyed working with his son and visiting the many residents of the rental apartments.
His loving family includes his wife, Julie, of 49 years, children Amy (Chuck) McGarvey, Kelly Zander (Reneé Thomas) and Chad Zander all of Fargo, ND; grandchildren Gabrielle and Allison McGarvey, Taylor, Madden, Jaxson and Braylon Zander; brother Merle Zander, sister Phyllis Hitz; in-laws Linda and John Frelich, Lou and Trent Aronson, Tom and Julie Bertsch, Laurie and Keith Deutsch; many beloved nieces, nephews and their families.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Mr. Ken Severinson, Deacon officiating. A time of fellowship will follow at the KC Club following the funeral service.
