Roger Henry Roberts grew up in the Oberon area, attending a country grade school, the Oberon Public School and later the Benson Country Agricultural School in Maddock, ND. His passion for farming made him decide to leave school and work the family farm with his Dad.

Roger entered the United States Army on January 15, 1951, and served his country during the Korean War. He served most of his time at the Panama Canal. He was honorably discharged from active duty to the Army Reserves on November 21, 1952, with the rank of PFC.

Roger returned to the family farm, continued farming, many of those years with his brother LaVern. He dedicated 70 years of his life to farming.

Roger was united in marriage to Juanita Harmon Buehler on November 10, 1972. She joined him in the farming operation until her death on June 7, 2012. Roger continued to live on the farm for several more years, then moved to Devils Lake.

Roger was a member of the Gerald A. Haskins Post #122 of the Oberon American Legion and also served as the Commander for the Post. Roger also was the Lallie Township Supervisor for many years.

Roger treasured his farm, family and friends with all his heart.

Roger’s loving family who survive him include his siblings Delores Stack and Jean Olson both of Minot, ND, June Sabbe, Bismarck, ND, Marlene Miller, Mesa, AZ and Lester Roberts Jr. of Devils Lake; many precious nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 42 years Juanita, step children Lee Buehler and Karen Carlson, brothers-in-law Paul Stack, Oscar Olson, LeRoy Sabbe, John Miller, sister-in-law Jackie Roberts and nephew David Westrum.

There will be a Graveside Service and Military Honors for Roger on Sunday, July 14 at 12:00 noon at Antelope Valley Cemetery, rural Oberon.
