Vickie A. Borho, 66 of Devils Lake, ND, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
Visitation was held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. led by Reverend Mr. Ken Severinson, Deacon. Mass of Christian Burial was on Friday, June 14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Vickie Ann, daughter of Cleo and Edith (Beauchamp) Benoit was born on August 13, 1957, at Langdon ND. She grew up on the family farm at Olga ND. She graduated from Walhalla High School with the class of 1976. Vickie continued her education at Lake Region Junior College earning an Associates of Liberal Arts. This is also where Vickie met her future husband. He was playing foosball, and it was love at first sight.
Vickie was united in marriage to James “Tiny” Borho on October 29, 1983, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Olga. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived, worked, and raised their two precious daughters.
Vickie was never idle. She worked as a salesclerk at Glickson’s and Kmart for several years. Then she was able to start her own in-home Day Care which was a dream come true for Vickie. Vickie’s talents as a cook brought her to new opportunities. She worked for Acores Foods as a cook at Camp Grafton for many years and since 2006 has been the Head Cook for the Devils Lake Public School System.
Vickie had a heart of gold and always looked for ways to help people. She was first and foremost a full-time devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. But she also worked as a caregiver and transportation driver for New Outlooks residents and those with special needs. She held several other jobs simultaneously along with her DLPS job until her death.
When work was able to be set aside for a few moments, Vickie loved road trips with family to visit other family and friends. She never passed up a chance to have a friendly card game. She loved the beauty of nature, the birds, drives and walks through White Horse Hill, just being outdoors. The end of each outing usually ended with a stop at Dairy Queen.
Vickie held such a special place in the hearts of so many people; her family, friends, students and staff, church community and the Devils Lake community.
We cannot imagine life without Vickie. She will be forever missed and forever in our hearts and memories.
Vickie is survived by her loving family.
