Michelle Nicole Halpain was born on Dec. 1, 1953, at Breckenridge, Minnesota and passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital at the age of 70 years.

Michelle, the daughter of William Daniel and Elizabeth Marie (Stelten) Worner grew up in Breckenridge and attended St. Mary’s School. While Michelle was in high school the family moved to Fargo, ND, and she graduated from Fargo North with the class of 1971. She attended the University of Mary in Bismarck and later Minot State College. She earned her Master’s in Deaf Education. She was always striving to learn, to increase her knowledge and also took classes at Lake Region State College while living in Devils Lake.

Michelle worked at various jobs while living in Minot. Eventually she moved to Devils Lake and worked at the North Dakota School for the Deaf for many years, until retirement.

In Michelle’s spare time she enjoyed scrapbooking, other crafts and gardening in earlier years. She was an active member of River of Life Church until health problems made being out and about quite difficult. She loved her precious canine companion Bubbles, and found her to be good company.

Michelle’s pride and joy were her children. She loved them dearly and treasured any time she was able to spend with them.

Michelle is survived by her twins Jacqueline “Jackie” Halpain of Minot, ND, and James Halpain of Rapid City, SD; siblings Theresa Herbst, Ted (Jean) Worner, Kathleen (Deon) Kissoon, Estee Raynor, Laurie (Tim) Mueller, Anna (Chris) Stansbury and Leo (Tammy) Worner; sisters-in-law Hope Worner, Peg Worner and Paula Worner; many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Bill Worner, Bruce Worner, Herb Worner and Becky Worner.
