Donald N. Holler, 73 of Devils Lake, ND, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital. There was a gathering of family and friends at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, May 17, 2024, and a service with burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Crary, ND following the service.
Donald Norbert Holler, son of John J. and Anne (Schall) Holler and twin brother to Ronald was born on June 1, 1950, in Devils Lake ND. He grew up in the Crary area, graduating from Crary High School with the class of 1968. He then went with his brother Ron custom-combining.
After several harvest runs, Don began working at Lake View Dairy. This is where he met his precious Cecilia Mertens. They were united in marriage on June 25, 1970, in Devils Lake. They established their home in the Devils Lake area, living, working and raising their family here through the years.
Don loved the country life and worked for several years for Brad Larson, then later at Home of Economy. He had his own hobby-farm where he raised many unique birds and animals.
Don’s passion was auction sales, estate sales and rummage sales. It wasn’t just looking for treasures that he enjoyed, he loved meeting new people and especially connecting with old friends where ever he went.
Don’s loving family include his wife Ceya, son Derrick (Jana Delfs) Holler, Bethal MN; daughter Bethany (Steve) Egeberg, Minot, ND; six grandchildren Jaxson Holler and Ronan Holler both of Bethal MN; Alex Klein (Lisa Ashley), Haley (Andrew) Santoro, Breya Egeberg and Braden Egeberg all of Minot; four great grandchildren Layla, Harrison, Raider, Henrik and Baby A Klein due in July; siblings Roger Holler, Duncan OK, Rosemary Korienek, San Jose CA, twin Ronald (Kathy Mertens-Ceya’s sister) Holler of Grand Forks, ND, MaryAnn (Stephen) Gordon-Forbes, West Palm Beach, FL, Ed Holler, Crary ND twins Monica Senger, Grand Forks, ND and Marie Summan, Las Vegas, NV, twins Paul Holler, Mesa AZ and Pauline (Glen) Bosch Devils Lake and Joe Holler Crary ND; In-laws Bill Mertens, Devils Lake, Mary (Leland) Koenig, New Rockford, ND and Pattie (Allan) Wilcox, Highlands, Ranch CO; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis, twin siblings John and Jeanette in infancy; father-in-law and mothers-in-law Cecil and Rosemary Mertens and Carol (Marthe) Mertens; brother-in-law Michael Mertens and sister-in-law Susan Semmen
