Delores Paech, 77 of Devils Lake went home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024. She passed away at the Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta, ND.
Delores was born on July 16, 1946, in Lawton, ND the daughter of William and Bertha (Hejlik) Kiviniemi. She was reared and educated in the Lawton area along with her four siblings.
Delores was united in marriage to Albert Paech, an immigrant from East Germany on Nov. 25, 1968, in Devils Lake. They lived in several different cities in North Dakota. Delores was not afraid of hard work. She worked as a waitress at the Corner Café in Mayville, ND, and the Husky House Café in Bismarck. She also worked as a housekeeper in Larimore, ND, potato harvester for Bourgois Farms, and hay harvester for the Patterson Ranch both in the Bismarck area. In 1973, Delores and Albert moved to Devils Lake, ND and both began a career with Porter Brothers. Delores did office cleaning and together they prepared metals for shipment and were the security guards at the facility. Delores retired in 1983. Albert passed away on Nov. 21, 1990. Delores continued to call Devils Lake home.
Delores was not afraid to tackle any project. She did her own home renovations and shingled the roof of her home. She loved to sew, crochet, and knit and share her creations with family and friends. She also had a well-tended garden and beautiful flower beds surrounded her home. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in her yard. Delores loved her Lord and was an avid reader of the Bible, scripture and listening to spiritual tapes and CD’s. They brought her great comfort, knowing and believing in the promises of Christ.
Delores is survived by nieces and nephews Charles Kiviniemi Jr., Bill (Julie) Sackenreuter, Kevin (Jill) Sackenreuter, Annette (Chris) Thompson, Angie (Bill) DeWall and Allan (Jaclene) Sackenreuter and many great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, siblings Charles, Erwin and Edwin Kiviniemi and Marcella (Neal) Sackenreuter.
Funeral Services for Delores will be on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND with burial in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
