Sandra Lou Asenath Lindberg, 67, of Bisbee, ND, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Towner County Medical Center in Cando. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Perth Hall in Perth, ND. The time of the service will be determined later.

Sandra Lou Asenath Lindberg was born on April 9, 1956, in the middle of a spring blizzard to Evelyn and Larry Lindberg. She came home from Cando to Perth by train, tractor, and in her mom’s arms as the last path to the farm was buried in snow.

Sandra attended Perth school until 9th grade, and then went to Bisbee High School where she graduated in 1974. Sandra graduated from NDSU-Bottineau and Turtle Mountain School of Paramedical Technique as a Medical Secretary and after was employed at the Cando Hospital as a Respiratory Technician.

Sandra married Vernon Church in Bisbee and to this marriage they had their only child, Dana Vernon Church. Although the marriage ended, they stayed friends and enjoyed many holidays together with Dana and his family.

Sandra was involved in agriculture as her career was farming with her family, however we all know her real passion was putting mile after mile on her zero-turn mower.

On Valentine’s Day in 2011 Sandra was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer and fought the battle, until it came back in 2022 with metastases. Sandra was a golden gallon blood donor, until the cancer stopped her, having donated blood for 40 years.

Bowling was a big part of Sandra’s life, as she bowled in the women’s, couples, mixed, and coffee cup leagues. Sandra was told in 2011 that she would not bowl again as her surgery affected her dominant side. She proved the doctors wrong! She represented North Dakota at the Senior Women’s National Tournament in Reno, Nevada, as well as Green Bay, Wisconsin in back-to-back years. Sandra had many friends from all over that she met while bowling. She achieved the 40-year bowling award and Howard Family Bowler of the Year honors.

Sandra was also a big sports supporter, following Dana in his football, basketball, and baseball life. She took a trip to Hettinger, by herself, to follow Dana’s games when he played in the State Babe Ruth Tournament with the Rugby team. She attended many games of her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren every chance she got. She was the family’s biggest cheerleader.

Sandra loved music. She could be found on Sunday’s playing piano for the Church or taking her mother to events such as the Keplin Festival each summer. She would often take out her guitar and sing a song she wrote to you. Violin was her most recent musical endeavor.

Sandra was very involved in the Bisbee Boosters and was the Bisbee Kids Fishing Derby promoter. She travelled many miles to get prizes for the kids’ tournament, organized the food and workers. She organized Halloween parties for the kids as well. She was the organizer for the Bisbee Booster Calendar and spent a lot of time helping the Chocolate Shop stay open and was on its Board of Directors. She also seldom missed a get together at places such as the Hawk Museum, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of Norway.

In recent years she dedicated much of her time to the creation and upkeep of her Perth Museum for all to enjoy.

Sandra’s house was always open to kids after school or overnights, and she was considered a bonus mom to many.

Sandra’s family includes Dana and his wife, Victoria; their children, Brittany (Tashawn), Jeremy, and Tristen; and on October 7, 2023, twin great-granddaughters, Sariyah James Marie, and her namesake Sienna Rose Asenath were born; her mother, Evelyn; sisters, Marlene, Sheri (Bill), and Patty (Steve); and brother, Roger; eight nieces and nephews; as well as seven great-nephews.

Sandra was preceded in death by father, Larry; and brother, Arlen; as well as her paternal and maternal grandparents.
