Eugene O. Gleason, age 83, resident of Hamar, ND, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at the NCHS Care Center in McVille, ND.
Eugene Oliver Gleason was born Aug. 25, 1940, to George and Ingeborg (Tangness) Gleason. He was raised on the family farm near Hamar, ND and attended the Hamar Public School. He then began working for Burton Woods. Eugene married Beverly Thorson on July 25, 1959, in Devils Lake, ND. Eugene then worked for Hulstrand Construction for a time before moving back to the farm, in 1967, when he took over management of the farm. He enjoyed raising livestock: cattle, sheep, and pigs. In later years, he enjoyed going to the casino. Beverly died Jan. 16, 2014. Eugene continued living on the farm, until recently moving to the Care Center in McVille.
Eugene will be missed by his 2 sons, Carey (Micky) Gleason and Troy Gleason; 5 grandchildren, Darrin Gleason, Sarah Workman, Jordan Gleason, Reed Gleason, and Shayle Larson Gleason; 3 great grandchildren, Mason Workman, Scarlett Gleason, and Ryder Gleason; 2 sisters, Edna Ellison and Tookie Christofferson; and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; daughter, Raeanne Workman; son, Randy Gleason; and sister, Georgia Reppen.
The Memorial Service for Eugene was held at American Lutheran Church, Tolna, ND, on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, with interment will be in the spring at the Tolna Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church on Monday, prior to the time of service.
