O’Della Hamre went to her final rest, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2023 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital.
O’Della was born Feb. 15, 1930, at home in Hampden, to parents Anton and Anna (Youngman) Lommen. She was raised in Hampden and attended Hampden Public School where she graduated Valedictorian.
On June 1, 1948, O’Della married Lloyd Hamre at Langdon, ND. They settled on their Hampden farm where they raised their 4 children. She loved her yard work and flower gardens and was meticulous about any project she took on. O’Della will especially be remembered for her homemade bread and buns. She made them with such specific love and perfection that no one has been able to duplicate them.
O’Della had great pride and love for her family. She had a special bond with grandchildren and great grandchildren and has two namesakes. She was a member of Zoar Free Lutheran Church in Hampden.
O’Della was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd in 1974, her son Lowell “Butch” in 2021, her parents and in-laws, three sisters, four brothers and their spouses.
She is survived by her daughter LouAnn Hamre, Minot ND; daughter-in-law Julie Hamre, Hampden; sons Leland “Buck” (Dawn) Hamre, Starkweather ND, Darin (Judy) Hamre, Wheatland ND; 15 grandkids; 27 great grandkids; nephews and nieces.
Music will be provided by granddaughter Traci Hysjulien, great grandson Wrigley Hysjulien, grandson Kelly Hamre and son Darin and his wife Judy.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Stacy Schonauer, Brent Schonauer, Kelly Hamre, Shane Hamre, Brandon Hamre, Kyle Hamre, Dusty Silhavey and Brian Hysjulien.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at the Gilbertson Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service on Wednesday, Jan. 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Zoar Free Lutheran Church, Hampden. Burial will follow at the Storlie Cemetery, Hampden.
