Glen E. Regan, a lifelong farmer and rancher of rural Webster, ND, passed away on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital. He was 97 years old.
There was gathering of family and friends at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. led by Deacon Ken Severinson.
Mass of Christian Burial was on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, rural Webster.
Glen Edward was born on Aug. 24, 1926, in Devils Lake, ND to Thomas and Bertha (Melvie) Regan. He grew up in the Devils Lake and rural Webster area alongside his siblings, father and his mother who made history as the first female Sheriff in Devils Lake.
Glen received his education in Devils Lake and graduated from Devils Lake Central High School. He dedicated his life to farming and ranching on the Regan family farm northeast of Webster. Glen’s passion for agriculture extended to caring for cattle, pigs, horses, and cultivating crops and hay. He attempted to retire at the age of 80, but even at 90 years old, he was still climbing grain bins. Glen was known to be mowing his own lawn until his passing.
On March 5,1955, Glen married the love of his life, Helen A. Karn, in Reno, Nevada. They returned to Webster where they built a life together, raised their family, and worked side by side throughout the years. Sadly, Helen passed away on November 14, 2014.
Although farming consumed most of Glen’s life, he always found time for one of his favorite pastimes – fishing. He embarked on numerous fishing trips with family and friends to Canada and enjoyed local fishing just as much.
Glen and Helen were devoted members of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church until its closure. They then joined the Assumption of Mary in Starkweather. Glen took it upon himself to care for Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery for many years.
Left to cherish Glen’s memory include his children Timothy J. (Agnes) Regan, Maple Grove, MN, George Regan, Webster ND, Nancy (Maurice) Pescion, Cooperstown ND, Jill Koehn, Grand Forks, ND, Diane Regan (Rene Kari), Devils Lake and Colleen (Curtis) Schuler also of Devils Lake; 11 grandchildren Ryan Regan, Talice (Kevin Jr.) Kraft, Ashley (Jesse) Duffy: Brent (Staci) Pescion, Angela (Adam) Retzer: James (Jordan) Koehn, Jacob (Carissa) Koehn, Ana (Chad) Kowalski: Aaron Gunn, Melissa (Peter) Tollefson: Alex (Jenna) Schuler; 14 great grandchildren Kole, Khole, Ariana, Braylon, Ella, Callie, Mason, Rylee, Amelia, Hudson, Channing, Lux, Jackson, Juliana and Baby Tollefson on the way; sister-in-law Shirley Junas, Lewistown, Idaho; special niece Linda Stewart, Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, daughter-in-law Sherri Regan, son-in-law David Koehn, siblings Charles Regan (in infancy), Donald Regan, Margaret Frye, Thomas Regan, Harold Regan, Catherine Molly Regan, and twins Norma Etchinson and Norman Regan and in-laws Muriel and Glen Karn.
