Diane Ziegler, 67, Mandan, died Sep. 21, 2023, at Sanford Health, Bismarck, ND.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sep. 26, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with Fr. Josh Waltz and Fr. Don Leiphon concelebrating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Sep. 25, 2023, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Parish Rosary & Vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Diane was born June 1, 1956, in Devils Lake, ND, to Nick and Veronica (Schall) Leiphon. She attended Devils Lake schools, graduating in 1974. While attending Lake Region Junior College, Diane met the love of her life, Richard “Rich” Ziegler. They were married on Oct. 8 1977, and together they had two beautiful daughters, Jenny and Sarah. Diane loved being a daycare provider, caring for many children in her home for 19 years. She later worked as the head cook at St. Joseph School for nine years. Her chocolate chip bars and chocolate cake were everyone’s favorite. Genuine and kind, caring and supportive, Diane was one of a kind. Her smile and laugh were remarkable and contagious. A devoted wife, mom, and grandma, Diane leaves a legacy of love and fun memories.
Blessed to have shared in her life is her husband of 45 years, Rich Ziegler, Mandan; daughters, Jenny (Devin) Helm, Mandan and Sarah (Joe) Pickar, Valley City; grandchildren, Bryce and Bailee Helm and Isabelle and Riley Pickar; brother, Dennis Leiphon (Nelson Perez), Portland, OR; sister, Rosemary Mathern, Bismarck; in-laws, Duane (Sandy) Ziegler, Bismarck, Cathy Ziegler, Powell, OH, Jerry (Vicki) Ziegler, Minneapolis, MN; Harold Ziegler, Oakes, ND, and Dennis (RonAnne) Ziegler, Billings, MT; numerous nieces and nephews that she cared for deeply.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Jake and Viola Ziegler; brother-in-law, Jim Ziegler; sister-in-law, Bonnie Ziegler; and special uncle, Bert Schall.
