Harold A. Jorgenson, 96, of Leeds, ND passed away Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at Eventide Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, ND. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at the Nelson Funeral Home in Leeds with Pastor Connie Monson officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Leeds Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to: Leeds Lutheran Cemetery P.O. Box 76 Leeds, ND, 58346.
Harold A. Jorgenson was born Jan. 7, 1927, to Henry and Ingborg (Domholdt) Jorgenson in Longmont, CO. He was raised and educated in Leeds, ND, where he attended country school until the eighth grade. Harold began working alongside his father and brother on the family farm at a young age, and continued farming all his life on the original family farmstead.
Harold was united in marriage to Helen Gallger on June 4, 1949, in Devils Lake, ND. To this union, the couple welcomed: Darlene, Sheila, Connie, Beverly and Kaylene. Harold was a member of Farmers Union and lifelong member of the Leeds Lutheran Church.
Harold was a gifted artist and musician who learned to play by ear. He liked painting and playing music on his accordion and piano, especially with family. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, gardening and camping with his family. Harold’s greatest past time was spent on the farm with his family and friends that he loved.
Harold is survived by his children, Darlene Dodds, Connie Jorgenson, Beverly (Clint) Oehlke and Kaylene Avillar; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Helen; daughter, Sheila Soirol; siblings, Gladys, Hazel, Jorgen and Ruth.
