Harold Fox Serumgard, Age 92, of Robbinsdale. Passed away Aug. 21, 2023, now with his heavenly father. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years Norma and parents Ole (Harold) and Helen Serumgard. Harold was a devoted husband and father and an active member of his community who was eager to aid and support all who crossed his path. He was raised in Devils Lake, ND, (800 block of 4th Street), was a Korean War Veteran, and graduated from the University of ND. Harold worked as a traveling salesman for many years and bus driver for the MTC / Metro Transit as a second career. He was gracious, respectful and understanding with everyone in his work, family, and social life. He enjoyed fitness, biking and ice skating into his 80’s. He taught us how to value each person and each day and to be kind and supportive of ourselves as well as each other.
Harold maintained connections with the Devils Lake region through his entire life. He managed farmland and maintained business relationships with the Cudworth family in Sheyenne (Jay, Frank and Beatrice) and with the Swanson family in Brocket (James, Beverly and Wayne). Maintaining the health of the soil and promoting wildlife diversity of the land was an important component in his business decisions. He was proud to say that he was a good steward of the property that was entrusted to him. Harold also looked forward to visiting with his classmates (the “49ers”) from DLHS, making summer trips to join them (into his 80’s) whenever class reunions were held.
Harold is survived by beloved children, George (Janice) Serumgard and JoAnn (Richard) Hirth: and grandchildren, Lauren Hirth (fiance Samuel Donahue), Andrew (Kennedy) Serumgard, and Caroline Hirth: sister Pauline Jensen: and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
