Thomas Charles Bacon, 15, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 14 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 903 Bernadette Dr, Columbia. Everyone is invited to A Celebration of Thomas’ Life following the service in Flannigan Hall at the church.

Thomas was born on April 27, 2002 in St. Louis, the son of Bryan and Suzette (Dean) Bacon.

He was a Sophomore at Fr. Tolton Catholic High School in Columbia where he loved playing on the football team, was a member of the Christian Diversity Committee and participated in Track and Field - all while an Honors Student. He was also a part of the Lee Elementary and Gentry Middle School communities.

Earlier in life he enjoyed Blue Thunder Track Club, Columbia Youth Football League, Douglass Baseball and Camp Kesem.

He cheered for the Dallas Cowboys because they are America’s team. He enjoyed the outdoors including the land he and his family lived on, especially if it involved having friends over.

When Thomas was in the room, you knew it. You might think it was because he was a six foot three 15-year-old, but Thomas’s presence was even larger than the physical vessel that tried to hold him.

With a beaming smile and easy demeanor, Thomas was always confident in his opinion, and happy to share it, but his friends also found it easy to talk with him. Thomas was the friend and protector of the young kids he knew, who all easily loved him. Larger than life, a heart as big as his smile, and as unique as a Japanese redneck sounds. Thomas loved and was loved.

Survivors include his parents, Bryan and Suzette Bacon of Columbia; sister, Eleanor “Ellie” Bacon of Columbia; grandparents, Erwin and Margaret Bacon of St. Louis; and a host of aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles, cousins, friends and beloved pets.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Natsuko (Mizutani) Dean.
