Ron was born to Fred and Elizabeth (Weiker) Teubner on Jan. 8, 1932, on the family farm 17 miles west of Cando. As a 3-year-old boy, a significant family event happened when his 23 year-old aunt Minnie Weiker gave her life to save Ron and his brother Virgil from their burning house.

He attended Wheatland, Hardwheat and Metcalf elementary country schools; graduated Cando High School in 1949; and attended McPherson College in Kansas and the State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND.

Ron was drafted in 1952 and served in the Army for 2 years as a heavy equipment mechanic stationed on Baffin Island, Greenland. After completing his service, he returned to Cando and began his career in farming. On June 21, 1957, Ron married Edair Jeanine Wagenman in Cando at the Church of the Brethren. They have known each other for 88 years, as Ron’s parents took him to visit Edair when she and her twin brother, Harlan, were born. Ron and Edair farmed near Bisbee and had 4 children. They also enjoyed 30 years of wintering in Arizona, soaking up the sunshine.

Ron was a talented high school athlete who loved sports competing in football, basketball, and baseball. As Ron would often say, “I was the only kid in school who started in all three sports.” In 1948, he refereed his first basketball game and continued for 28 years working over 1,000 games. He developed a love for the game of golf and played many rounds with family and friends. He and Edair avidly supported the Cando Cubs and later the North Star Bearcats.

Ron loved farming, John Deere tractors and combines, and always strived to be the best farmer he could possibly be. After “retirement” he continued to be active on the farm running the combine well into his 80’s. He was involved in many agricultural related organizations. In 1983, Ron was awarded the Pro Farmer of the Year award. He was involved with Minn-Dak Growers Association, a specialty crop marketing organization. He was instrumental in the push to develop a new scab-resistant Durum wheat variety.

Above all, Ron loved the Lord and was committed to living his life accordingly. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes was a significant part of his life and he served as North Dakota’s state director. Ron has been a member of the Church of the Brethren, now Christian Fellowship Church, his entire life and served the church in many different capacities including Sunday School teacher, deacon, and board member. He was a long-time member of Gideons International, a founding member of Lighthouse of Hope, helped establish Crossroads Range, and participated in both Lay Witness Missions and Promise Keepers.

Ron was also committed to investing in the growth and care of the Cando community by serving on multiple boards and committees.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Edair; their children Nancy (Rick) Mitchell, Mesa AZ; Trudy (Larry) Semrau, Bloomington MN; Jeffrey (Cathy) Teubner, Cando ND; and Peggy (late husband Joe) Martin, Champlin MN; their grandchildren Calvin (Alyssa) Teubner, Jessica (Hunter) Mouw, Lindsey and Lexie Semrau, Jack (Payge), Sam, Katie, and Sarah Martin; brother Ken (Diane) Teubner, Cando ND and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, an unnamed infant and Virgil; nephews Kevin Teubner and Mickey Teubner.
