Eugene Joseph Rolle, the son of William and Flora (Summers) Rolle was born Aug. 1, 1938, on the farm near Brinsmade, ND. He died at the age of 84 years old at Firesteel Nursing Home in Mitchell, SD, on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
Eugene served in the US Air Force for six years as a radio repair man. He was united in marriage to Patricia Gaarder on July 3, 1960, in Heimdal, ND. Upon returning from the Air Force, he worked for the city street crew in Fessenden while repairing TVs at the local hardware store. In 1967 they moved to Oakes to become a surveyor for the Bureau of Reclamation. In 1974 they moved to Huron, SD, where he worked as an electrician and later the sub station meter tech for the department of energy (Western Area Power). Eugene retired in 1996 and moved to Mitchell, SD, in 2000. Eugene loved picking on his guitar to the country music playing on the radio.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Patricia; 3 children, Kevin Rolle, Ken (Susan) Rolle, both of Mitchell, SD, Cathy (Jay) Schaapveld, of Ramsey, MN; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley (Leonard) Deplazes, of Leeds, ND; 2 brothers, Jim (Linda) Rolle, of Missoula, MT, and Gary (Donna) Rolle of Leeds, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Brinsmade Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow at the church.
