Jean L. Ivesdal, 92 of Devils Lake passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at a Bismarck Hospital with her son Rodney by her side. Funeral Services will be held in the spring.

Funeral Services for Jean will be on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, with Reverend Lori Pankratz officiating. The burial will be in the Prospect Cemetery, rural Edmore, following fellowship in the church dining hall.

Jean Lorraine Clock Ivesdal was born on Oct. 1, 1930, in Hampden, ND, the daughter of Nels and Gunda (Frayrack) Clock. She graduated from Hampden High School in 1948.

Jean married John M. Ivesdal on July 5, 1950, in Crookston, MN. They established their home in Hampden, later Edmore and in 1965 moved to Devils Lake. Jean Stayed at home to raise her family. Eventually she worked in the nursing home industry and then worked with John at Lake Lumber. In 1985, John and Jean purchased the Super 8 Motel in Devils Lake. Jean managed the motel until they sold the Super 8 in 1994.

In her younger years, Jean loved to curl. She also enjoyed traveling with John throughout the years. Jean gave many hours of volunteer work after retirement. She was very involved with her church. At one point she was president of the St. Olaf congregation. She enjoyed cards with friends, family gatherings and attending school and sporting events her grandchildren were involved in. In her later years, she enjoyed the many drives throughout Ramsey County with her son Rodney. She moved to the Wishek Living Center in February 2022.

Jean lived a life of faith in her Lord, devotion to her family, and love for all whose paths she crossed.

Jean’s loving family include her children John “Greg” (Donna) Ivesdal, Neil (Penny) Ivesdal, Jody (Gary) Friskop and Rodney Ivesdal; son-in-law Lyle Nantt; grandchildren Chris (Autumn) Ivesdal, Michelle (Adam) Lunsford, Nick Ivesdal, Catie Ivesdal, Lindsey (Lucas) Carlson, Tim (Jocelyn) Friskop, Bryant Friskop, Tyler Nantt, Josh Nantt and Rachel (Levi) Nantt; eight great grandchildren; sister-in-law Joyce Larsen; many beloved nieces, nephews, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Ivesdal, daughter Heidi Nantt, grandchildren Brian Ivesdal and Zachery Ivesdal, siblings Ardell Clock, Lloyd Clock, Duane Clock, Florence Clock, Francis Simon, Eunice Reeves and Dolorus Kerr.

Memorials may be directed to St. Olaf Lutheran Church (Devils Lake) and the Prospect Cemetery (Edmore) in memory of Jean.

Pallbearers will be Chris Ivesdal, Josh Nantt, Tim Friskop, Bryant Friskop, David Kerr, Jerry Reeves, and Dane Larsen. Honorary Bearers are all of Jean’s Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Nieces and Nephews. Music will be provided by Dennis and Jean Aardahl. Reading Scripture will be Tim Friskop.
