Sharlene “Shar” Anderson, 69, of Devils Lake, ND, passed away on April 17, 2023, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, surrounded by her two daughters and the thoughts and prayers of many loved ones.
She was born in New Rockford, ND, as the first child of Robert and Alerene (Nelson) Hoffman on Sept. 11, 1953. She grew up in the New Rockford/Sheyenne area with her four siblings, working on the family farm and having fun with cousins and friends. She attended New Rockford High School (class of 1971), where she developed lifelong friendships.
Shar attended Lake Region Junior College in Devils Lake, ND, where she studied nursing. After graduating she moved to Fargo, ND and worked for Saint Luke’s Hospital as a nurse.
Shar was introduced to Richard “Rick” Anderson by her father and they were united in marriage on May 15, 1976, in New Rockford. In 1977 they moved to Devils Lake where they lived, worked, and raised their two daughters Shannon and Heidi. Shar continued her 38 year nursing career at Mercy Hospital retiring in 2015.
When Shar wasn’t busy with work she enjoyed creating new crafts, gardening, bowling and golfing with friends, and a good Hallmark movie. Shar loved spending time with her family and cherished every moment.
Shar is survived by her daughters Shannon and her husband Joe Ebsen, Plymouth, MN and Heidi Anderson, Eagan, MN; Brother Bob (Sandi) Hoffman, New Rockford and Lester (Kimiko) Hoffman, Broomfield, CO; sisters Penny (Steve) Eidem, Greeley, CO and Deb Hoffman, Evans, CO; sister-in-law Linda (Phil) Schmaltz, Devils Lake and Lois Drumwright, Pascola, MO; brothers-in-law Terry Fauts, Big Lakes, AK and many dear nieces, nephews and their families.
Those who preceded her in death are her parents Robert and Alerene Hoffman, husband Rick in August 10, 2022, parents in-laws Alex (Milan) and Mary Anderson, brother-in-law Milan Anderson, sisters-in-law Janie Anderson, Janet Anderson and Charlotte Fauts.
Funeral services are pending for Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with burial in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Sharlene is in the care of the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.
