Lyman F. Keim, 84, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Sunday night, April 23, 2023, at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown.

Lyman Francis Keim was born Sept. 24, 1938, in Leola, SD, the son of Christ and Pauline (Maier) Keim. He graduated from Leola High School in 1958 and attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. Lyman enlisted in the US Army in November 1961 and was stationed in Baumholder, Germany with the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment. He was honorably discharged in November 1963 and entered the theater industry. Lyman managed the theater in Bismarck, ND from 1965 to 1970. He was united in marriage to Darlene Hofmann on August 1, 1970 in Bismarck, ND. They lived in Devils Lake, ND where he managed the theater until 1977 and then moved to Aberdeen, SD, to manage the theater. In 1980, they moved back to Bismarck where Lyman managed the theater again until 1983. Then, they built the theater in Hazen, ND, and operated it until 1986, when Lyman bought the Bison Twin and Cinema Twin theaters. In 2011, he built the Bison 6 Cinema at the Buffalo Mall and retired in 2020 after 55 years.

Lyman was an active in the communities where he lived and was a member of American Legion in Leola, SD. He was a board member of the North Central National Association of Theater Owners. Lyman also was a member of Rotary, James Valley Street Machines, Jamestown Classic Car Club, and New Hope Free Lutheran Church of Jamestown.

Lyman is survived by his wife, Darlene Keim; sons, Cory Keim and Kevin Keim; grandchildren, Kaden Keim and Lucas Keim; nephews, Troy Johnson, Neil Keim Dornbusch, and Lynn Keim Dornbusch and Robert Dornbusch; and nieces, Susan Keim Dornbusch and Lisa Dornbusch.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Arlene Johnson; brother, Stanley Keim; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Lyman’s funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 27, 2023, at New Hope Free Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Steve Berntson officiating. Visitation is 1:00 p.m., to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown with a prayer service 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, at a later date.
