Lena Keck

Lena Meier Keck, 96, of Devils Lake, ND, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Towner County Living Center in Cando, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 501 4th St. NE, Devils Lake, ND, with Reverend Karmalraj Balasamy celebrating the Mass. The Rosary will be recited at the church at 9:30 a.m. Lena will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery with a time of fellowship to follow at the Parish Center.

Magdelena Heisler, daughter of Pius and Dorothy (Ripplinger) Heisler, one of ten children, was born on Nov. 15, 1929, at home in the Starkweather/Cando, N.D., area. Lena grew up in the Calio, ND, area, attending the Trier Township Country School.

Lena married Robert “Bob” Meier on Aug. 25, 1948. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived, worked, and raised their family of five children Linda, Pamela, Kelli, Todd, and Troy. After the children were grown, Lena worked at the J.C. Penney’s Store.

Lena was united in marriage to Glenn Keck on March 20, 1990. In their retirement years, they spent treasured days at the lake – an idyllic backdrop for pontooning, fishing, and soaking in the peacefulness of nature. Lena’s passion for gardening transformed yards into vibrant canvases, showcasing delighful blooms and flourishing vegetable patches. Know far and wide for her exceptional culinary skills, her German dishes became legendary among those lucky enough to gather around her table.

Lena was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and even enjoyed a pilgrimage trip overseas with other members of the church.

Lena’s most treasured moments and memories were those shared with her precious family. They were her pride and joy. Lena lived her life to the fullest, believed the promises of her Lord and Savior, and will be so very missed by those who knew and loved her.

Lena’s loving family include her children Pamela (Bo) Cunningham and Kelli (Joe) Rinas all of Spokane, WA, Todd Meier and Troy (Patty Jo) Meier all of Devils Lake; her legacy continues through her grandchildren Bobbi Reisnouer, Scott (Cory) Reisnouer: Jess (Corrina) Hockett, Stacey (Brad) Carruthers, Cole (Tiffanie) Hockett; Bethany Jo Rinas: Amanda Meier, Briana Meier; 15 great grandchildren; many dear nieces, nephews and their families.

She was reunited with her parents, her dear daughter Linda Reisnouer, husbands Bob and Glenn. She now joins her siblings Mathais Heisler, Emelia Mattern, Rose Winnegge, Anna Radar, Clara Rainsberry, Elizabeth Hartl, Delphine Radar, Frances Katafias and Stephen Heisler.

Reading the Scriptures will be Todd Meier and Bo Cunningham. Carrying the Eucharistic Gifts will be Pam Cunningham, Kelli Rinas and Bethany Rinas. Casket Bearers will be Todd, Troy, Bo, and Joe.
