The Devils Lake Rotary supports a variety of projects including the 4-way test essay contest that is open to juniors and seniors. The essay contest invites students to submit entries on a subject of interest to the student, specific or general and present the topic of the essay with the Four-Way Test criteria.

This year, three students from Devils Lake Public School were recognized for their essay entries. Cadence Jenssen was awarded first place and a check for $150; Kaden Wass earned second place and a check for $100; and third place was given to Payton Johnston with a check for $50. The awards were presented January 26th at Devils Lake High School.

Judging was based on utilization and application of the principles of the Four Way Test. The Four-Way test is a springboard to voluntary self-improvement. The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do is as follows:

  • Is it the TRUTH?
  • Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  • Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
