Justin Likness is coming back to fight with a purpose. The Devils Lake High School graduate isn’t going out on a loss and calling it a day. As he hits the pads with fellow MMA competitor Jeramy Titsworth at Lopez Gym in Minot, he is especially focused and confident going into his fight at MPX Promotions on August 31 in Belcourt.
He fought last on Feb. 24 at Spirit Lake Casino. He was the clear hometown favorite in front of the sold-out venue. However, a knee injury during the match caused the fight to be called off.
“To be honest with you my mojo was killed the night before at weigh-in,” Likness said. “My mentality was killed.” Likness said there were disagreements with management that came about.
That is the past and Likness is looking towards the future. On August 31, he is taking on Casey Goulet, a veteran from Minnesota.
“He looks like a solid wrestler,” Likeness said. “I wrestled too. I’ll submit you. I’ll put you to sleep.”
As Likness looks towards the future, he said he has plans to open his own gym and wants to coach future fighters from the North Dakota area.
Justin Likness vs. Casey Goulet is on August 31 at Skydancers Casino in Belcourt.
