Devils Lake, ND May 2024 – Cadet Bentley GreyBear III and Cadet Natalie Schall received awards from the American Legion during the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Dining In event at the Devils Lake High School for their outstanding performances.

Cadet GreyBear received the American Legion General Military Excellence Award for being in the top 25% of his class in JROTC and non-JROTC subjects and having demonstrated outstanding qualities in military leadership, discipline, character, and citizenship.

Cadet Schall received the Scholastic Excellence Award for being in the top 10% of her class in non-JROTC subjects, being in the top 25% of her class in JROTC, demonstrated qualities of leadership, and having actively participated in related student activities such as student organizations, constructive activities, or sports.

These cadets were recognized for their outstanding attributes and their demonstrated leadership. The American Legion North Dakota Department Sergeant-At-Arms and Devils Lake Post Adjutant Bryce Crosby attended the event and was there on behalf of the Post Commander Jack Volk to witness the presentations of the certificates, ribbons, and medals to these exceptional cadets.

The JROTC program provides students throughout the United States with crucial social values – such as discipline, leadership, citizenship, and personal responsibility.
