The Ramsey County Commission met for a regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15. After approving minutes from the August 1 and August 8 meetings, the commission approved the agenda and were introduced to the new Assistant State’s Attorney, Meggan Crosby. Following this, State’s Attorney Beau Cummings reviewed proposed changes to the draft of an agreement with the Law Enforcement Center and entities that utilize it. Clarifying language is needed on a variety of issues, as well as the correction of some spelling and grammatical errors. Cummings presented these to the commission, who then unanimously approved making said revisions before reviewing to sign it at the next meeting.
Highway superintendent Kevin Fieldsend then gave updates on various county road projects and requested the following motions: to pay $3,106.82 and provide a signed letter of certification for these funds from the auditor and county chairperson to North Dakota Department of Transportation; and to order culverts for $45,053.24. The bike path in Lakewood was brought up and will be included in a future budget to re-seal the overlay.
The commission discussed and approved several technology contracts for residential parcel mapping and assessment, to update the audio-visual equipment in the county commission meeting room and basement meeting room, and to implement an operational system shared by many other counties in North Dakota. All motions were passed unanimously.
The commission is also seeking nominations for the Devils Lake Basin Stewardship Award, and for an appointment to the North Central Housing Authority Board. Sheriff Bryan Lang gave a short update.
County Commission Chairperson Jeff Frith was appointed to the State Water Commission for the Devils Lake Basin area and will represent our region for at least the next two years. Congratulations, Jeff!
