Ambrose James Littlewind Jr., 55, of Oberon, ND, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, due to health complications, his living family was at his side.

Ambrose James Littlewind Jr., 55, of Oberon, ND, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, due to health complications, his living family was at his side. Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fort Totten, ND, with Fr. Charles Leute, O.P. celebrating. Visitation began one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Fort Totten. The Procession left from the Highway 57 /281 Junction at 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. The Nelson Funeral Home of Minnewaukan is in charge of arrangements. Littlewind Jr. was born on Feb. 7, 1965, in Devils Lake, ND, to his proud parents, Ambrose Littlewind Sr. and Theresa (Alex) Littlewind. AJ Littlewind was a lifelong resident of the Spirit Lake Tribe. He was educated at Oberon and Sheyenne public schools. He was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion and Saddle Bronc Champion. He traveled throughout Canada, ND, SD and Montana just to compete in the rodeo circuit. He made a lot of good friends. AJ was baptized at Seven Dolors Catholic Church. His godparents were John and Emma Guy. His most recent job was a semi driver with Nevada and Josh Hustad until his health forced him to retire. AJ was a humble cowboy and had a passoin for rodeos. He loved his time spent driving semi throughout the United States. He was also a Rodeo Contractor at a young age. AJ also sat on the Board for Refuse Control and helped design the new building. Rodeo was a big activity for him and the Littlewind families. AJ will be dearly missed by his loving family; daugher, Kansas L. Littlewind; sons, Alfred Littlewind and Cyril Shaw; grandchildren, D’Angel Lenoir, Maddie Lenoir, Alfred Littlewind Jr., Jeremiah Shaw, Brayden Belgarde and Pasely Shaw; brother, Dean (Lolita) Dunn; adopted brothers, Joseph Twohearts, Al Thompson and Dustin Dauphinais; sisters, Delphine Cavanaugh, Hopsty (Louie) Dubois, Carmen (Eugene) Littlewind, Onna Littlewind and Germaine (Darren) Demarce; uncles, John Chaske and Francis “Frenchy” Brown; aunts, Lorraine Greybar and Geraldine Redfox; many niece’s and nephew’s. AJ will be welcomed home by; his parents, Ambros and Theresa (Alex) Littlewind; sister, Lavina Littlewind; nieces, Lindsey, Johanna, Leann and Avis; nephews, John, Aaron, Mitchell and Jarvis; grandchildren, Baby Austin, Noah Littlewind, Stacy Dubois and Theresa Demarce; grandparents, Joseph and Martha (HighElk) Littlewind.
