James Edward Jansky, 71, Towner, died Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, ND. James was born on June 1, 1949, to Frank V. and Ellen (Cvancara) Jansky in Stanley, ND. James was raised in Ross, ND and graduated from Stanley High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on the 29th of June of 1967 and served on the USS Nereus, was stationed in Taiwan and Guam. After his service in the Navy and was honorably discharged, he joined the United States Army National Guard, where he toured Honduras and Belize. While working in Towner, he met the love of his life, Sharon Rice. They were united in marriage on Nov. 8, 1974, at Hope Lutheran Church in Upham. He made a 38 year career in the National Guard, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 2010. Other jobs he held throughout the years were for the North Dakota Game and Fish Department in administration, Gault Trucking as a laborer, North Dakota Forest Service in Towner as an assistant manager and a CNA at the Heart of America Medical Center, Rugby. He was a member of the Clarence Larson American Legion Post No. 23, Rugby and the Faith Lutheran Church in Towner, ND. James was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying the outdoors and was an animal lover, taking in dogs or other animals, giving them a better, more loving life. He was a kind compassionate man, good hearted and selfless, always donated his time and also an all around jokester. James was a loving husband, father and friend, that will be dearly missed. James is survived by; his wife, Sharon; sons, Scott (Lindsay Gessner) of Towner and David of Southern Pines, North Carolina; adopted daughter, Daphne Villatoro; brother, Ron Jansky of Ross; sister, Denise Jansky of Ross; an aunt, Darlene Cvancara of Stanley; brothers-in-law, David Rice and Gary Rice, both of Towner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by; a sister, Anita Hix; in-laws, Delores Jones, Donald and Eugene Rice; and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 22, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Towner with burial in the Union Cemetery, Towner. Rev. Daryl Rothchild, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 21 with a prayer service beginning at 6 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Towner.
