The Kirksville Police Department defused a standoff situation on Thursday evening that resulted in one arrest.

Just before 5 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to a call near Ely and Pierce streets where a man in a black shirt was seen with a gun. Officers spoke with a woman at the scene and she said her and her husband were involved in a domestic disturbance at their home on the 400 block of South Ely, and her husband went back inside the residence.

Officers stayed on the scene and heard a loud noise from inside the home. They setup a perimeter around the home and made contact with him via phone and loud speaker. The man exited the house without incident and was taken into custody.

KPD is only identifying the guy as a 46-year-old white male at this time, and he was arrested in regards to domestic disturbance.
