There will be a gathering at Edwin’s home following the graveside services. Edwin Raymond Hartle was born on May 27, 1941, on a small farm west of Devils Lake, the son of Mike J. and Margaret (Bickler) Hartle. Edwin grew up on the family farm outside of Warwick. Edwin’s first love was that of a rodeo rider, but circumstances made him a farmer. He always helped on the family farm and also worked for various neighbor farmers in his younger years. He and his brother, Louis, eventually became the Hartle Brothers partnership and farmed together for many years. Edwin also worked in the auction barn at Lake Region Livestock. In the fall of 2018, Edwin and his brother Louis reluctantly retired, moved off the family farm and into Devils Lake. On any given day, Ed could be found at the local café or the Spirit Lake Buffet and taking in a bit of gaming. Edwin will be greatly missed by his beloved family, dear friends and neighbors and the Warwick community. Edwin is survived by; his brothers, Louis Hartle, Devils Lake and James Hartle, Seattle, WA; sisters, Isabel Liska, West Fargo, ND, and Aggie (Tim) Hennessy, Anderson, SC; and three nieces, two nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by; his parents; and brother-in-law, Jerry Liska. Special thanks to our loving caregivers, Maria and Teri for their special care over the past months. Memorials may be directed to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND, in Edwin’s memory.
