Dan Faine is excited to announce that his store, Footers, has relocated to the city’s historical downtown district as of Feb. 1, 2020.

Located in the corner retail space of the Fifth Ave. Downtown Building, Faine’s store is in an ideal location he says. He can look out his east-facing windows and watch the daily traffic stopping by the town’s post office and all the downtown businesses.

He was born in Dunseith, grew up in Cando and moved to Devils Lake when he was 24 years old, 22 years ago.

Formerly Faine’s business was located in Holiday Mall starting years ago in a center aisle cage selling nick knacks at Christmastime and eventually graduating to selling tennis shoes and finally boots in the mall. His tenancy in the mall was interrupted by back surgery in 2009 and going back to school at Lake Region State College working on an IT degree. His “dream” of owning his own business was not dead, only put off for a while as we worked for others, two or three jobs at a time.

A born salesman, Faine is making his dream happen, now, at 301 5th Ave. NE where he has an impressive supply of boots and shoes, name brands like Durango, Rocky Boots and Georgia Boots.

“We have on hand work boots, dress boots, military boots, hikers, duty boots for law enforcement and postal workers, muck boots and some tennis shoes - all for men, women and kids,” Faine says. What he doesn’t have in the store he can find for you on line as special orders are his bread and butter.

Open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call him anytime at 701-350-0972. If you stop by and the store is closed, it’s only because he’s on his own there and may have had to step out for 20 minutes to run an errand, call or stop back later!
