Beulah beats Devils Lake for the second time this season ending the Firebirds 2019 after win in 2A playoffs; New Rockford-Sheyenne loses 4th quarter lead in 9-Man playoff loss to Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page.

A Nathan Battest touchdown broke a 14-all and a Trapper Skalsky 94 yard touchdown run sealed it for Beulah as the Miners beat Devils Lake 29-20 Saturday, Nov. 2 in the 2A quarterfinals. The loss ended the Firebirds season at 4-5.

Joesph Frelich had 16 carries for 66 yards and touchdown runs of 2 and 1 yards. His second TD gave the Firebirds the 14-6 lead at the end of the first quarter but Battest found the end zone with a minute, 25 seconds left in the second quarter got the Miners (9-1) within two. He ran in the two point conversion that knotted the game at 14 going into halftime.

After a scoreless third, Battest 4-yard touchdown run gave the Miners their first lead of the game with seven minutes remaining.

Battest finished with 173 yards on 20 carries and three touchdowns. Skalsky had 103 yards and Tryston Miller rushed for 75 yards as the Miners accumulated 397 rushing yards for the game.

Austin Devier had 70 yards receiving and a touchdown and led the Firebirds with eight tackles. Parker Vilandre had seven tackles and Zach Lange had 6 1/2 tackles and 35 yards rushing.

Jack Ihry had 385 yards on the ground and scored five touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter, to propel Finley-Sharon/Hope Page (11-0) past the Rockets in comeback fashion. The Spartans advanced to play Kidder County (9-1).

The Rockets (8-2), who scored all 42 of their points through three quarters, led  by 16 heading into the final 12 minutes.
