Roger L. Rohrer, age 71, resident of Minot, ND, passed away in his home, surrounded by his loving family on Oct. 21, 2019. Visitation - there will be no reviewal as cremation has taken place, however, friends may sign a guest register on Friday, Oct. 25 from 3 until 5 p.m. at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Vigil Prayer Service will be Friday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. at Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot Burial - a private family committal service will take place at the Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND. Roger L. Rohrer was born Nov. 15, 1947, at Rugby, ND, the son of A. Lynn and Catherine (Fritel) Rohrer. He was raised in Rugby and Devils Lake, ND, and graduated from Devils Lake Central in 1965. Roger attended Lake Region Junior College before being drafted into the U.S. Army on April 8, 1969, and served in Vietnam for 15 months before being honorably discharged on Nov. 28, 1970. He attended college at the University of North Dakota following his discharge majoring in Business Administration. Roger married the love of his life, Mary Teresa Sloan, on July 14, 1972, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lakota, ND. Roger served with the safety division of the ND Workers Compensation Bureau for 15 years, first as a field representative before being appointed as the Director of Safety. He then joined Cooperative Power Association (now Great River Energy) as Safety and Health Coordinator and served there for 20 years before retiring on June 1, 2011. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and many memorable years training and hunting with his Labrador retrievers. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and introduced them to the outdoors whenever he had the chance. He also attended many hockey, basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, musical concerts and any other activities that his grandchildren participated in. Roger was an avid fan of the UND Fighting Sioux hockey team and the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Wild teams. Roger was a member of Our Lady of Grace church, Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl, VFW, Disabled Veterans and Moose Lodge. Roger is survived by; his wife, Teresa; sons, Jason (Desidy) of Minot, and Joshua (Kelli) of Fargo, ND; and his grandchildren, Benjamin, Gabrielle and Julia. He is also survived by; brothers, Rodney (Marilyn) of Bismarck, ND, Ritch (Mona) of Bismarck; and sisters, Rhonda (Dennis) Langdale of Beatrice, NE, and Renae (Kelby) Eidsness of AZ; along with several nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by; his parents, Lynn and Catherine; in-laws, Don and Mary Sloan; brothers-in-law, Gerald Cartwright and James Sloan.
