Leo C. Lindenberg, 80, of Cando, ND, passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at the Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND.

Leo C. Lindenberg, 80, of Cando, ND, passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at the Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND. Funeral Services for Leo will be held on Friday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. at Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church, Starkweather, ND, with Reverend Robert Buechler officiating. Burial will be in Trinity-Bergen Cemetery in the spring. Leo, son of Emil and Lillian (Smith) Lindenberg was born on Dec. 30, 1938, at Starkweather. He was reared and educated in the Starkweather area, attending a country school. Leo spent his working years farming and raising cattle, first in the Starkweather area, then in 1971 he and his brother, Dennis, bought a farm in the Crocus area. Leo loved the farm life, the outdoors, making hay for the cattle and being a good steward of the land he was blessed to farm. In 2006, they retired and moved to Cando and Leo would call Cando home the rest of his years. Leo loved auction sales, trips to the Hawk Museum each year, helping area farmers in his retirement years, a good cup of coffee and good conversation with good friends at the Cenex. Leo loved being a part of all of the family activities and events and felt blessed to be included in all of the special moments of his nieces and nephews. Leo was a member of Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church and of the Devils Lake Eagles Lodge. Left to mourn are; Leo’s sister, Ilene and her husband, Robert Quackenbush of Rock Lake, ND; twenty nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by; his parents; twin siblings in infancy; sisters, Ione Thorstad, Doris Stotts, Byrdie Olson and Lorraine Evans; brothers, Lyle Lindenberg, Glen Lindenberg and Dennis Lindenberg; and four nephews.
