SmileQuest hopes the fundraiser brings in $7,000 for their sponsored child.
The staff at SmileQuest, a dentistry on 5th Ave. SE, is partnering with the Make A Wish Foundation to raise money for a child by holding a purse raffle.
The drawing will be next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and appetizers and beverages will be served. There will also be a former Make A Wish child at the drawing so folks around the region can see how the charity gets results.
Lisa Sigette, treatment coordinator at SmileQuest, says that they haven’t yet met the child that they’ll be sponsoring.
“This is our first time sponsoring a wish child,” Sigette said. “We have not had a child assigned to us yet, but we will have a child here the night of our drawing to talk about their experience with Make A Wish.”
The raffle is for a total of 13 purses with name brands such as Kate Spade, Coach, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Dooney & Burke and Vince Camuto.
Sigette says that she hopes the fundraiser brings in $7,000 for the sponsored child.
Sigette and the entire staff at SmileQuest got together to decide which charity they wanted to raise money for, and Make A Wish stood out.
“We, as a group, decided to do some kind of fundraiser, and we know that it’s a great program,” Sigette said.
Some of the staff from SmileQuest will be at this weekend’s Devils Run festivities. They’ll be out Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The national Make A Wish Foundation was started in 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s one of the more highly rated charities by the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance, meeting the standards in all 20 categories surveyed, including transparency, donor privacy and effectiveness.
