The Royals have also made some noise in the NJCAA national rankings, finishing number 18 in the country in the latest poll.

The juggernaut Royals softball team continued its winning ways this past weekend, taking four games from Dakota College at Bottineau in home/away doubleheader action to finish the regular season on a 13-game winning streak.

The Royals, winners of 14 of their last 15 games, finish the year at 29-3. This is Lake Region State College’s first softball team that has managed to win the Mon-Dak Conference championship, and they’ll be the number one seed going into this weekend’s Region XII tournament.

The tournament will be held at Roosevelt Park in Devils Lake this weekend, May 5-7.

The Royals have also made some noise in the NJCAA national rankings, finishing number 18 in the country in the latest poll.

Though the Royals have been solid in all facets of the game, one player has stood out: P/OF Hanna Gary has taken home both Mon-Dak and NJCAA player of the week honors this season.

She’s batting .519, has launched eight homers, and has a whopping 52 RBI in only 32 games.

Gary has also provided speed on the basepaths, nabbing 15 steals.

As a team, the Royals averaged 11.2 runs per game while hitting 47 homers in 32 contests. Pitching has also been solid this year, as Royals hurlers have notched a 3.73 ERA and have recorded six shutouts.

Amber Stewart has led the way for the picthing staff, putting up a 3.26 ERA while striking out 82 in 64.1 innings pitched. She finishes the season with a record of 8-2.

Tournament times will be announced this week. The Royals hope to keep their momentum going after a monster regular season, though their first round opponent has yet to be determined.
