Gregory Mindt was charged with contact by bodily fluids, a felony, for allegedly spitting in the face of the corrections officer who was attempting to take his picture upon entry into the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center.

Devils Lake police say that 31-year-old Gregory Mindt of Devils Lake, who was taken into custody Thursday, spit in a correction officer’s eye while resisting attempts to have his mug shot taken.

The ordeal began when officers responded to a call about loud music at an apartment at 311 3rd St. NE. The building’s landlord  also told police that two individuals, one of them Mindt, at the apartment in violation of the lease and requested they be removed.

When police arrived, they arrested Mindt and a woman, Michelle Cooley for several outstanding warrants. Both were also charged with disorderly conduct, while Cooley was charged with hindering, all misdemeanors.

Mindt was charged with contact by bodily fluids, a felony, for spitting in the face of the corrections officer who was attempting to take his picture upon entry into the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center. He has prior convictions for public urination, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Formal charges are pending.
