The 6th annual Lake Region Suicide Prevention 5K walk/run will be held Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Ruger Park in Devils Lake.

Everyone is welcome to participate in all, or any part of the event.  Check in and registration begins at 5 p.m. The walk/race will begin following a brief and personal sharing by a parent about suicide prevention. Following the walk/race soup and desserts will be provided.

The Lake Region Suicide Prevention Committee is dedicated to preventing suicide in the Lake Region and surrounding communicates. We are a non-profit group of volunteers. Our major funding comes from the walk/run registrations and free will offerings for soup and desserts at this event.

Proceeds are used to buy billboards and other printed media, which connect individuals and families in need of support, information, or guidance about depression and suicide with effective local and national resources. Connecting people with support and resources is effective suicide prevention.

The week of Sept. 5 through 11 is National Suicide Prevention week. The Lake Region Suicide Prevention Committee encourages you to join with others around the world that are working towards the common goal of preventing suicide.
Check in on someone you may be concerned about, listen to what they say and how they say it, and show them kindness and support.  There are many resources available to help, including the suicide prevention hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255). Join us for our walk /run on Sept. 21 to show support for suicide survivors, and those who continue to feel the pain of depression.

Registration for the walk/run is $20.00 adults and $10 students. T-shirts are included, however it is on an as -available basis to later registrants.

Register online at http://lakeregionspc.weebly.com or at the event. Please let us know if you or your family member requires a fee waiver. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
