The three-day extravaganza that was Devils Run 2016 went off without a hitch over the weekend, as sunny skies and mostly cooperative weather led to a satisfying time for locals and visitors from around the state and beyond.

Rubber was burned and smoke sent toward the sky Friday at the Spirit Lake Casino as car enthusiasts showed their stuff, despite a few showers. The parade, which kicked off just before 10 a.m. Saturday, went well over an hour as classic rides, muscle cars old and new, and bizarre vehicles of all types made their way down 4th St.

This year’s event was wrapped up Sunday, as Chad Peterson of Devils Lake won the drawing for a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Stan Orness, organizer of the event, promised an even better 2017 Devils Run.
