Ramsey County Sheriff Steve Nelson reports that 29-year-old Kenneth James Eagleman escaped from the Law Enforcement Center at approximately 10:15 p.m. Thursday night.

Eagleman, who was incarcerated due to several warrants, including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving under suspension, and theft, was reportedly able to loosen metal grates protecting a window on the south side of the building.

After Eagleman was succesfully able to work around the protective grates, he broke through the window and absconded.

After it was noticed that Eagleman had escaped, the Devils Lake Police Department was notified; however, the escapee has thus far been able to elude capture.

Nelson reports that as a non-violent offender, Eagleman was housed in a medium security cellblock. Nelson also noted that Eagleman was in the presence of six other inmates at the time of his escape. The escape was apparently undertaken just after a routine check by jail staff.

Eagleman’s last known address was in Fargo, where he also has several warrants. He is last known to have lived in Devils Lake in 2010.

Nelson said that Eagleman is not considered dangerous to the public, and urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact authorities immediately.
