Lillian M. Demarce, 76, of Tokio, ND, passed away on Saturday morning, April 16, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.

Lillian M. Demarce, 76, of Tokio, ND, passed away on Saturday morning, April 16, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
The wake for Lillian will be held on Thursday, April 21, at St. Michael’s Recreation Center beginning at 5 p.m. with a Rosary and prayer service at 7 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, April 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass.  Lillian will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.

Casket bearers for Lillian will be her grandsons, Nick, Charles, Sage, P.J., M.J., Frank, Sonny and Delray Demarce.


Honorary bearers will be Claudie Cottonwood, Adeline Cavanaugh-Barry, Larry and Darla Thiele, Tony and Vina McDonald, Staff of the Good Samaritan Center and the CHR’s of Spirit Lake Nation.


Lillian Mary, daughter of Thomas and Lillian (RedDay) Cavanaugh was born on August 9, 1939, at Devils Lake, ND.  She lived most of her life on the Spirit Lake Nation.  She attended school at Little Flower School in St. Michael and Calvary Square.  


Lillian was united in marriage to Andrew D. Demarce Sr. on July 13, 1959 at Minnewaukan, ND.  They made their home near Tokio, ND where they lived, worked and raised their four boys and two adopted sons.  She worked for a time as a teacher’s aide at the Early Childhood Center in Fort Totten.  


Lillian was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved watching her sons and grandchildren dance and sing at pow-wows and other events.  She was so very proud of each and every one of them.  She made many beautiful beaded creations and shared them with family and friends.

 
Lillian leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 56 years, Andrew; sons, Andrew (Tammie) Demarce Jr., Marshall (Dierdre) Demarce, Marlan Demarce, Preston Demarce and adopted sons, Wesley BigTrack Sr. and Napoleon “Curly” Fournier and Curtis Meeches; 22 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and special friend Marge.  

 
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Marshell and a grandson in infancy; brothers, Walter “Porgie” Cavanaugh and James Cavanaugh; sisters, Shirley Johnson, Delima Jackson, Velma BigTrack and Olivia Cavanaugh.

 
 Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, has been given care of Lillian.
