Devils Lake qualified seven wrestlers for the state tournament after competing in the Class A East Region Tournament in Fargo on Saturday.

Devils Lake qualified seven wrestlers for the state tournament after competing in the Class A East Region Tournament in Fargo on Saturday.
The top eight finishers advance to state, which is held in Fargo this weekend.
At 132 pounds, Parker Vilandre took home second place. After a first-round bye, Vilandre won his next two matches before falling to Jake Ashline of Valley City in the first place match.
Jace Estenson placed fifth at 152 pounds. Estenson received a first-round bye, then won by decision over David Peterson of Valley City in the quarterfinals. Estenson lost his next two matches, but then beat Peterson again by decision to earn fifth place.
George DeMarce also took fifth place at 195 pounds. DeMarce won by fall over Fargo North’s Matt Meier before losing in the quarterfinals. DeMarce won his first two matches in the consolation rounds, lost in the semifinals and then pinned Alex York of Fargo Davies for fifth place.
At 145 pounds, Cody Bjornson placed seventh. Bjornson got a first-round bye, won in the consolation second round and won by decision against Fargo South’s Ammar Mohamed in the seventh place match.
Brant Fisk placed eighth at 106 pounds. Fisk won his first two matches in the consolation rounds before losing in the third round and in the seventh place match.
At 113 pounds, Everett Gunther took eighth place. Gunther pinned West Fargo Sheyenne’s Hunter Hermanson in his first match of the tournament. He won by fall again in the consolation round two after losing in the quarterfinals. Gunther then lost in the third round and in the seventh place match.
Luke Knowski placed eighth at 160 pounds. Knowski won by decision over Nate San of Fargo North in the first round. After losing in the quarterfinals, Knowski won in the second round of the consolation bracket before losing his final two matches.
Devils Lake placed eighth out of 10 teams.
